Vacancy for Heritage Manager
Salary £19,312 – £19,698 (pro rata)
(SCP range 5 – 6)
We have a position vacant for one of our two Heritage Managers. Applications are invited from enthusiastic individuals for this post.
Duties will include the day to day running of our Heritage Centre based at St Richard’s House. The Centre comprises our Town Tourist Information and Museum. The job will require the post holder to manage operations including the front of house and the pool of active volunteer workers. The Museum aspect includes maintaining an established local history display, additional exhibitions, care of the archives & reserve collection and helping to maintain accreditation status. Knowledge of the Town, surrounding area and the rich local history will be expected. Some previous experience working in a museum environment or similar including related processes would be beneficial.
The work pattern arrangements are flexible and open to discussion. The successful candidate will ideally be expected to work fixed days each week 9.30am until 4.30pm, and every other Saturday 9.00am – 2.00pm. There will be some flexible working within this rota, subject to concurrence with the other Heritage Manager position. Some additional working is expected on occasions to support special events hosted by the Centre and Town Council. The opening hours of the Heritage Centre may be subject to change, but are currently Mondays – Fridays: 10am – 4pm with Saturday opening hours being 10am – 1.30pm.
It is expected that interviews will be held during July 2021.

We currently have a limited number of volunteer vacancies at the Heritage Centre.
Are you a calm, confident personality who can give information in a concise, clear manner?
Are you prepared to sell souvenirs and book coach trips for people, use a till and handle money?
Our ideal person would:
Have a good knowledge of Droitwich, or the ability to pick information up quickly
Be easily able to establish a rapport – you could be the first impression a visitor to Droitwich will have, so it is important that their perception is a positive one!
Be interested in history and have an ability to relate historical facts in an interesting manner
